Full Moon Walks (Year-Round)
Hit the trails at night and enjoy the full moon and natural history readings. Full moon walks are led by Executive Director Bill Hopple. Recommended for ages 8 and up. Preregistration is required. Members free; nonmembers $8.

Bird Walk
Receive a checklist of all the birds that live in and travel through Cincinnati as you prepare for a one-hour bird walk. Beginners welcome. Bring your binoculars!

Monarch Butterfly Tagging (September)
Adults and families are invited to join experienced Monarch tagger Lester Peyton as he presents a 30 min powerpoint presentation to discuss the life cycle of Monarch Butterflies, their migration and wintering grounds, and how to provide host plants and nectar.
After the presentation, the group will move outside and begin the tagging process of Monarchs caught the day before and kept safely in torpor overnight. You will then get the opportunity to release a tagged butterfly.
Members $5 adults, $2 children; Nonmembers $7 adults, $3 children. Pre-registration Required
Great Outdoor Weekend (September)
Great Outdoor Weekend is designed to provide a diverse sampling of the best nature activities in Greater Cincinnati. Because of the generous financial and in-kind support of sponsors and participating organizations, all programs and admission to Rowe Woods are FREE and open to the public on Sept. 24 and 25. Preregistration is NOT required.
The following programs are part of Great Outdoor Weekend. Other activities offered daily include a self-guided fall scavenger hunt and seasonal Nature Calls cell phone tours.

Discover Cincinnati Nature Center at night! Bring your picnic dinner and flashlight to enjoy bluegrass music, ice cream from United Dairy Farmers and a challenging adventure for the whole family along the Edge Trail.
This year, explore all new fun and education stations and a new route! Complete the challenge and receive a prize. Member adult $5, child $1; nonmember adult $13 child $8 Preregistration is NOT required.

Discover the marvels of the stream on this guided, in-the-stream hike at Long Branch Farm & Trails. On our journey, we’ll search for mussels, crayfish and snakes while we net minnows and look for the green heron and kingfisher. Downstream wading will reveal fossils, animal tracks, signs of beaver and a variety of other wonders. The return hike is on the trail.
This program meets in the special groups parking lot at Long Branch Farm & Trails on Gaynor Road. Most water is 24 inches deep or less. Bring old sneakers or other suitable stream shoes (preferably closed-toed) and old towels. Recommended for ages 5 and up. Space is limited. Members, free; nonmember adult $6, child $3. Learn the characteristics of an old-growth forest in a lecture and then enjoy a hike through the mosaic of forest types at Rowe Woods to learn native and non-native plant communities. 3 Miles, Moderate terrain.
